Whether you are a seasoned pro or a passionate age-grouper, this is your chance to compete in the official CAC African Continental Gravel Bike Championship while simultaneously earning your spot in the UCI Gravel World Series Championship.

Khomas100 Frequently Asked Questions

Rider and race info

Please ensure you are at your respective starting line early. The race starts at different times and locations depending on your chosen distance:

  • Full Distance: Starts from 07:00 in Windhoek.
  • Half Distance: Group start at 08:00 at the Gross Barmen Resort Entrance.
  • Short Distance: Group start at 08:30 at the Gross Barmen Resort Entrance.

Important Note: Mandatory race briefings will take place at least 15 minutes before each race start time. Please ensure you are present to receive crucial route updates and safety info.

To keep you hydrated and fueled, there are water points strategically placed along the route.

Please take note of the official cut-off times to ensure a safe event for all riders and support crews:

  • Full Distance: Riders must reach Water Point 5 by 15:00. To make this cut-off, you will need to maintain an average speed of 16 km/h or faster. If you do not reach the checkpoint by this time, the sweeper vehicle will pick you up.
  • Half Distance: The official cut-off time is at 14:00.
  • Short Distance: The official cut-off time is at 12:30.

There is prize money up for grabs for full-distance riders, with separate podiums for men and women in each UCI age category. For a complete breakdown of the purses and podium details, please head over to the Riders tab.

All prize-giving ceremonies will take place at the NWR Gross Barmen Resort at the following times (subject to change):

  • 13:30: Full Distance Elites, CAC Gravel African Champions, UCI Gravel World Series Qualifiers (Elite), as well as the Half and Short Distance podiums.

  • 15:00: Full Distance Age Groups, CAC Gravel African Age Group Champions and UCI Gravel World Series Age-Group Qualifiers.

  • Official race results will be available on the website and social media pages.

The race features six water points along the full distance route (subject to change):

  • Water point 1 SuperC/Pepsi: Offers drinks and snacks.
  • Water point 2: CYMOT: Offers drinks, snacks and a tech zone.
  • Water point 3 Offers drinks and snacks.
  • Water point 4: Cycletec: Offers drinks, snacks and a tech zone.
  • Water point 5: Indongo Toyota: Offers drinks and snacks.
  • Water point 6 Hollard: There will be water and soda only.
  • Finish line: Race Village and Tech Zone

Half distance route (subject to change):

  • Water Point 1: Offers drinks.
  • Water Point 2: Offers drinks and snacks.
  • Water Point 3: Offers drinks and snacks.

Short distance route:

  • Water Point 1: Offers drinks.
  • Water point 2: Offers drinks and snacks.

Take note that the Namibian National Gravel Championship will not take place at Khomas100, but at the Na/a’an ku Gravel Challenge. This race forms part of the Hollard Grand Prix Series.

While everyone receives a Khomas100 Finishers Medal, official UCI Gravel World Series Medals, CAC African Championship Medals/Jerseys, and UCI Gravel World Championship Qualification Slots are strictly tied to specific age groups and distances.

Crucial Qualification Rule: If your age group is designated for the Half Distance but you choose to ride the Full Distance, you will not be eligible for UCI medals or World Championship slots. If qualification is your goal, you must ride your designated distance.

*UCI Gravel World Championship slots are allocated based on the official UCI percentage rule per age group.

The CAC Gravel African Championship: The first eligible African male and female rider registered in the Elite category to cross the finish line will be crowned the Elite Gravel African Champs.

Official CAC Gravel African Age Group Champions will also be crowned for top African finishers within their respective, officially specified age categories and distances.

Elite and Age Group riders who are registered with the UCI can qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships.

  • Female riders 50+ and male riders 60+ can qualify for UCI Gravel Worlds on the half distance. All other riders 19+ have to compete in the full distance to qualify to UCI Gravel Worlds.
  • You will not receive prize money for qualify for the UCI Gravel Worlds.
  • You will have to compete on a gravel bike at the UCI Gravel Worlds.

The Khomas100 features a massive prize pool in cash.

  • Cash prize categories apply to all distances of the Khomas100, view age groups on the Prize Money page.
  • Think you can climb? Keep your eyes peeled for the signs on the full-distance route to claim the ultimate climbing titles (King and Queen of the Mountain).
  • Every single participant who crosses the finish line will receive an exclusive Khomas100 Finishers Medal.

For safety reasons, support cars are prohibited on the route. Riders must rely on the water points. Event cars and ambulances will be present. Any rider using a support car will be disqualified. Elite riders can hand in pre-marked bottles at the start to be taken to water point 3 for collection, please contact info@khomas100.com.na.

GPS and Routes

Yes, mechanics will be available at two of the water points in a tech zone and at the finish line. It is advised to carry your spares and tools. Tech zones can assist with most quick fixes only.

The full distance route starts in Windhoek and is a captivating mix of flat plains and challenging climbs. Conquer a total elevation gain of approximately 2300 meters and finish at the NWR Gross Barmen Resort. The full distance is an intermediate course and can take up to 8 hours to complete.

To ensure a safe and competitive race, please take note of our equipment guidelines:

  • Ideal Setup: Gravel bikes with 40 – 50 mm width tyres are the ideal choice for this terrain.
  • Mountain Bikes: Mountain bikes are welcome. If you wish to make specific modifications to your mountain bike for the race, please contact us at info@khomas100.com.na for more information.
  • E-Bikes: E-Bikes are only permitted on the Half and Short distances for safety reasons.
  • Road Bikes: Road bikes are strictly not allowed on the course.
  • Navigation: A GPS device is mandatory to navigate the route. You can view and download the official route files under our Routes tab.

GPS devices are compulsory. You need to be able to navigate the route with the supplied GPS maps. Basic markings will be in place, with route marshals along the way at any danger areas. If you have any questions regarding certain points, please contact info@khomas100.com.na

Entries and Registration

Registration opens 20 May 2026 and the entry links are available on the Home and Rider pages.

Registration takes place on the Friday before the race at CYMOT Hilltop. More information will be sent via email closer to the date. There will be a short race briefing.

During registration, confirm your entry with your name and surname.

Your race entry is only final once have completed the payment on the payment link. Visit the Rider page for more info and to enter.

Race substitutions can only be made up to 2 weeks ahead of the race.

No full refunds will be given under any circumstances, however, tiered partial refunds are available based on how far in advance a cancellation is requested:

  • 50% Refund: Available for cancellations made up to 9 weeks (approximately 2 months) before Race Day.

  • 30% Refund: Available for cancellations made between 9 weeks and 4 weeks (1 month) before Race Day.

  • No Refunds: Strictly no refunds or registration cancellations will be granted within 4 weeks of the event.

E-Bike Riders

For the safety of our elite and championship field competing over the full distance, E-bikes will strictly only be permitted to enter the Half and Short distances.

This ensuring a fair, clear, and safe racing environment for the official continental and UCI World Gravel Series qualifiers, while still allowing our E-bike community to fully experience the electric atmosphere and incredible trails of the Khomas100.

E-bike riders must be fully self-sufficient throughout the race. Please ensure you are prepared and carry all your own necessary spares with you on the course. Note that there will be no battery drop-off points or charging stations available along the route; you must manage your power and equipment independently.

After the Race

Riders should arrange their own transport to and from the venues in advance.

Once you cross the finish line, our vibrant race village at the NWR Gross Barmen Resort will be ready to welcome you. We’ve lined up everything you need to celebrate, recover, and unwind after an epic day on the gravel:

  • Bar & Refreshments: Celebrate your achievement with cold beers, wines, or a variety of drinks.
  • Dining: Need a more substantial post-race meal? The Gross Barmen Restaurant will be open to satisfy your appetite.
  • Showers: Wash away the race grime immediately with full access to hot or cold showers at the finish line venue.
  • Thermal Pools: Cool down or soothe your aching muscles with a refreshing dip in the resort’s famous swimming pools (both hot and cold options available).
