The Khomas100 offers three routes catering to cyclists of varying experience levels. Each route explores the captivating landscapes of the Khomas region, featuring a unique blend of terrain that will test your skills and leave you breathless. Whether you’re a seasoned gravel grinder or a newcomer to the sport, there’s a route for you.

Each route is carefully designed to showcase the stunning scenery of the Khomas region. You’ll encounter diverse terrain, from rolling hills and winding gravel roads to beautiful climbs and thrilling descents.

By carefully reviewing the route descriptions you can ensure you’re well-prepared to tackle your chosen Khomas100 challenge. GPX files will be shared to all riders.

Start: Tony Rust Race Track
Waterpoint 1: 40.1km, hydration and feeding
Waterpoint 2: 60km, hydration

143km The Ultimate Challenge

The 143km route is the ultimate Khomas100 experience, demanding both physical and mental fortitude. Who will be crowned the Namibian Gravel Champion? Expect a variety of demanding terrain and breathtaking views.

  • Start Location: Tony Rust Race Track, Windhoek
  • Start Time: From 6:00 in batches
  • Approx Elevation: 2000m
  • Finish Location: NWR Gross Barmen Resort, Okahandja

Route Characteristics

  • This course is ideal for intermediate level cyclists, you can cycle comfortably for 5 to 8 hours.
  • Mostly unsurfaced roads, including gravel, sand, farm roads and tracks.
  • There is an elevation gain of approximately 2000 meters.

Route Description

  • Start at 6:00 from Tony Rust Race Track.
  • Do one neutral lap behind the race car and carefully exit the race track behind the commissaire’s car – please take care at the narrow exit.
  • Then turn left onto the tarred C28 and stay on the C28 for about 26.5km. 
  • Turn right onto the D1958. WATCH the road signs. DON’T turn right onto the D1420.
  • Waterpoint 1 and Tech Zone 1 (CYMOT) will be at the next corner on 40.1km. There’s a small building as well.
  • At 49km the D1958 veers to the RIGHT. STAY on it. DO NOT go straight onto the D1541 – thats the wrong road! 
  • The CIC Waterpoint at 60km will be a welcome sight!
  • Then the road climbs, falls, twists and turns. You will see Waterpoint/Tech Zone 3 Cycletec at 80km. It is still the D1958!
  • At 101km turn RIGHT onto the D1972. At this junction you will find Waterpoint 4 hosted by Deo-Pharma.
  • Stay on the D1972 – it veers right at 119.5km. Waterpoint 5 Indongo Toyota will await you there. DO NOT ride on straight – turn RIGHT where the sign says Gross Barmen.
  • Then it’s a straight road until you hit the tar and finish in front of Gross Barmen!

84km Intermediate Adventure

The 84km route offers a thrilling challenge for experienced cyclists seeking to test their limits. This intermediate route features a good mix of terrain, with some technical sections that will demand focus and skill. Get ready for a journey that pushes your endurance while showcasing the splendor of the Khomas region.

  • Start Location: Gross Barmen Resort, Okahandja
  • Start Time: 8:00
  • Approx Elevation: 669m
  • Finish Location: NWR Gross Barmen Resort, Okahandja

  • This course is ideal for the avid cyclist who can cycle comfortably for 3 to 5 hours.
  • Mostly unsurfaced roads, including gravel roads.
  • There is an elevation gain of approximately 669 meters. 

Route Description

  • Start at 8:00 from NWR Gross Barmen Resort.
  • Follow the route to water point 2, where you will turn around and return to the finish at Gross Barmen.

44km Scenic Introduction

For beginners or those seeking a scenic shorter ride, the 44km route provides a perfect introduction to the Khomas100. Experience the essence of the challenge on a manageable course that features a variety of terrain. This route is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Khomas while enjoying a relaxed yet rewarding ride.

  • Start Location: Gross Barmen Resort, Okahandja
  • Start Time: 8:40
  • Approx Elevation: 285m
  • Finish Location: NWR Gross Barmen Resort, Okahandja

Route Characteristics

  • This course is ideal for beginners and family friendly.
  • Mostly gravel roads.
  • There is an elevation gain of approximately 285 meters.

Route Description

  • Start at 8:40 from NWR Gross Barmen Resort.
  • Follow the route to water point 1, where you will turn around and return to the finish at Gross Barmen.
