Dear Riders,
It was my utmost honour to host the CAC AFRICAN CONTINENTAL GRAVEL BIKE CHAMPIONSHIP – UCI GRAVEL SERIES, Khomas100, powered by Hollard for you.
We have received incredible feedback from across the world. With 340,000 views (and counting) on our Instagram page and 220,000 views on Facebook over the last 30 days, this is a testament to the massive increase in Namibia’s gravel racing. On our DHL timing app, 85 cities globally from 26 countries viewed the race results, with 10,267 people checking out the winners. Alex Miller was the most followed male rider and Hayley Preen the most followed female rider.
We have also had wonderful post-event articles published in The Namibian, Republikein, Cycling News, and many other smaller global publications. We are currently finalising the production of our SuperSport insert which should be ready to be televised by the end of next week. As soon as we have confirmed dates for the airtime, we will advise you.
Our DNF (Did Not Finish) rate was 0% for the short distance race, 4% for the half distance race, and 9% for the full distance race (many of these were mechanical failures). This means the course is well designed and not too difficult for weekend warriors.
Without our sponsors, none of this would have been possible. A big shout-out to: Hollard, DHL, 226ers, NBL, Indongo Toyota, Pepsi, W Meyer Optometrists, Rhodes, and Super C.
A special mention goes to our friends at Checkers, Squirt, Cycletec, CYMOT, and Mannies Bike Mecca for their contributions, which were invaluable. Delta Emergency Services made sure all riders stayed safe.
Without our team of passionate volunteers, there would have been no race. Thank you to the team of commissaires; Kerstein Klein for managing Gross Barmen; Madrie and her team of volunteers from Hollard; and, of course, all the water point staff. Johan Pretorius from Raceday Events and his team also offered immeasurable support.
We also sponsored 21 riders to take part in the race, and DHL gracefully kitted 6 of them in DHL kit.
Last but not least, I will be handing over a cheque from the Khomas100 to the Hollard Hearts Foundation as a way to give back to a wonderful charity.
See you all at the 2026 edition on 22 August!
